VIDEO: Caffe Lena with Holly & Evan is in the can.
UPDATE: It’s in the can! Thanks to all who came out, and special thanks to Holly & Evan and the Caffe Lena peeps for having me. Good times.
Here’s a taste of the night: “Drops.”
Cuz hip hop don’t stop for one drop rules.
Hip-hop don’t stop for one drop of one percent
Code-switchin’, paper bag testin’ your way into hypodescent…
Yeah, I’m Team Q-Tip on this one, y’all. Peace.
@IGGYAZALEA you have to take into account the HISTORY as you move underneath the banner of hiphop. As I said before

Caffe Lena says:
Holly & Evan won the Audience Favorite prize at Caffe Lena’s 2014 “Here Comes the Sun” street music festival last June. Laying down a mesmerizing, danceable funk, Holly on guitar and vocals, Evan on bass and vocals, along with drummer Bob Morris, update the traditions of the Barrelhouse with jazzy riffs and electric instruments. Holly’s songwriting comes from a lifetime of reading about, listening to, and living the lifestyle of the blues. Her original songs, such as “Parchman Prison” and “Satisfied,” were inspired by the Mississippi blues greats. Albany soul rocker Bryan Thomas will be joining the band and playing solo. He has been named “Best Male Singer-Songwriter” the Albany Times-Union and is a perennial Metroland favorite. Says Nippertown’s Greg Haymes: “With Prince as his primary musical touchstone, Thomas’ uncompromising songs are specifically local, yet gloriously global. He writes smart, and he writes from the heart, balancing intellect, passion and politics.”
