About the Show

Capital Region arts webzine TheHiddenCity.com presents an evening of music and spoken word at Changing Spaces Gallery Wednesday, December 17, 2003 at 7 p.m. with a reading by verbal visionary SIMONE FELICE and solo-acoustic performances by eclectic Capital Region songwriters TOM BURRE and BRYAN THOMAS.

The show is free to the public; donations to the gallery are encouraged.

Back in the states following a successful tour of England, Wales, and Germany, Hudson Valley native SIMONE FELICE will read from his latest work Goodbye, Amelia. It is at once a haunting novella and a visionary collection of prose and poetry, exploring themes of personal freedom and the end of innocence in a changing world. "Simone Felice is a cyber Rimbaud, a neo-hipster poet who marries a Romantic Gothic sensibility to a darkly humorous and insidiously disturbing post-millennial sci-fi vision," says Hudson Valley performance poet Mikhail Horowitz. This is Felice's first performance in Albany; for more info, see 'Art Murmur' in the Dec. 4 edition of Metroland.

Composer and performer TOM BURRE is one of the Capital Region's most talented and challenging artists, both as a solo performer and with the avant-rock ensemble Bone Oil. Equally adept on guitar, laptop and vocals, Burre's works have pushed the boundaries of organic and electronic artistry. He is currently the Assistant Executive Director of the Electronic Music Foundation. Burre's Changing Spaces performance will be a solo-acoustic set.

Singer-songwriter BRYAN THOMAS will perform solo-acoustic versions of songs and spoken word from his forthcoming album Babylon, recorded live in a single day this summer with the power trio Suicide Spade. The album is slated for release in early 2004.
