July 20, 2000

Good peeps. Good music. Good cause.

Acoustic assassin Ed Hamell - a.k.a. Hamell on Trial - was seriously injured in a car accident in May 2000. He's expected to make a full recovery, but he's out of commission for the next few months. So Valentine's staged not one but THREE benefit shows in July to help cover his medical expenses. The third and final night, July 20, was singer-songwriter night, featuring Mike Eck, Howe Glassman, Rich Baldes, MotherJudge, Jon Brodeur, Tina Crapsi, John Phillips, and some guy named Bry-Bry (scope the pretty pix below). Props to everyone in the house, to Valentine's for making it happen, and a big shout out and a get well soon to Hamell. Yes, indeed.

My buddy Benjamin Wagner and I warmed up for Hamell at the Fort/Sidewalk in New York City on Tax Day 1999. Read about it.
