Yes, it’s the official music video for “Reunion,” featuring fabulous physiognomy from points far and near – faces from Middlebury, Niskayuna and the great unreal and hidden city of Albany, New York.

The song is the lead track from the new 5-song EP “Smash to Pieces,” by me and my band the Buggy Jive.

Sevendys, Sgt. Dunbar and the Hobo Banned, and some guy named Bryan Thomas will be at  the Linda in Albany Tuesday night to rock your world.

The Linda, WAMC’s Performing Arts Studio, presents an evening of live contemporary classic music. Bryan Thomas delivers his delicious brand of sweet n’ sour soul rock, then Sgt. Dunbar and the Hobo Banned bring the rollicking gypsy jazz, then Sevendys (Jed Davis, Sheridan Riley, Avi Buffalo, Jerry Marotta and Willow Tonight) assembles from all across this great land to move you. No better way to spend a Tuesday night. $10.

“Sweet ‘n sour soul rock.” Love that.

Sevendys is genius Jed Davis’ latest project. The Times Union did a nice write up on Jed in advance on the show. Read it. You will be intrigued.

Local 518 Benefit Concert

Yes, it’s time for EXIT DOME 4 – another celebration of music and mayhem in the Local 518 (fourth in a series) this time featuring Que Caro, Chris Carey and his band the Rodeo Barons, Nancy Walker, Slender Shoulders, the mother effin’ Charlie Watts Riots and holy crap it’s Phantogram.

I am proud to be your lobby entertainment for the evening. Gotta donate to get in on the fun.

And by the way: I’m looking for an endgame to the handful of songs I’ve been tinkering with in the newly spit-shined basement music space. Can I squeeze out a little 5-song EP project in time for the show? Stay tuned, Mouseketeers.

UPDATE January 9: New music, indeed, Looks like Exit Dome 4 will be a CD release party after all. I am approaching the finish line. So you’ll hear it. Soon.

UPDATE: January 11: Here it is. “Reunion,” is free, the whole thing is a $5 download, and CDs will first be available Jan 29 at Ye Olde Exit Dome. See ya there?

1) As you may have heard, the old web host shit the bed. It’s back in action now – with a new look no less. TheHiddenCity.com is back, too, although it’s overdue for spit shine. No doubt.

2) I’ve been teaching myself Logic by recording and re-recording and re-re-recording the same two songs over and over and over again. Here’s a loop.

There are several iPhone/FourTrack demos in the can, waiting to be realized, but I’ve come to loathe working on songs piecemeal. If I can free up a block of time in the schedule, I’ll hit ‘em up and try to do them justice, hopefully before year’s end.

3) Gigwise: the Nona show in Schenectady and the Joni show in New Orleans were well-documented in this space and on the Facebooks and the Twitters. But you probably don’t know that just the other day I sang Stevie Wonder’s “Heaven Help Us All” to help the Labor Religion Coalition of New York State celebrate its 30th anniversary. I have no business singing Stevie Wonder songs.

4) Like getting lost in an old photo album while packing for a big move, I found myself going over old blog posts in moving to the new host, and was reminded that I used to blog quite a bit on current events. But not so much lately. I’m too disgusted lately. I can’t even watch the Daily Show it’s so bad. Jon Stewart calling out American idiocy with such biting humor used to be a favorite, but at some point this year the comedy, for me, devolved into tragedy. As they say, Comedy = Tragedy + Distance and Time, but unfortunately distance is here and time is now. Hopefully I can do my part to fight the stupid come Nov. 2. But until then, I’ll be detoxing from silly news coverage of the anger and the opinions and the misinformation and the stupidity and trying to focus on things that are much more important.
