ACT I In Anytown, USA, Casey Litchfield and Desmond Kophe are faced with a problem - their roommate Jill has pulled a midnight move, leaving their three bedroom apartment one tenant short. But when they find a replacement - a quiet, removed man named Kyle Fullard - the story of their haunted lives begins to unfold. Des suffers a severe amnesia; Casey refuses to take her father's phone calls; and Kyle, a washed up FBI agent, visits a psychologist to purge his guilt over the death of a child witness he was assigned to protect. ACT II Des tries to learn more about past by following a paper trail to his bank manager. His confusion is reflected in a flashback to his first waking memories from two years before. Casey is angry, frustrated and lonely; she tries to fill her emptiness in a one night stand with another woman. The arrival of a child killing psychopath in the city re-opens Kyle's emotional wounds, magnified by dreams of the dead child witness. ACT III Kyle returns to the FBI to hunt down the elusive child killer. Des learns more about his past in a visit to his doctor, and in a visit to a local restaurant. Kyle offers to use his FBI resources to dig into Des' past. Casey's abandonment issues are manifest in a dream of her absentee father. ACT IV Kyle learns more about Des' past with the help of his old girlfriend, an FBI intelligence officer - and about Casey's feelings for Des from Casey herself. Kyle confronts the serial killer and Des and Casey come to terms with their secret pasts and their feelings for each other.
