APARTMENT D AIRS ON WCFE/PLATTSBURGH Plattsburgh, NY -- (11/10/97) -- Apartment D - a two-hour video drama in four acts written, directed and produced by Capital Region native Carl W. Liss - airs Friday November 28 at 10:00 p.m. on PBS affiliate WCFE/Plattsburgh, Mountain Lake Public Broadcasting. Apartment D tells the story of three roommates who must come to terms with their secret pasts, and features Thomas Grigal as "Des," Michelle Quinell as "Casey," and Liss as "Kyle." The project was shot on location in Plattsburgh and New York's Capital Region, and produced in partnership with the State University of New York at Plattsburgh and WCFE. This is the first full-length feature for Liss, who has spent the past three years studying film and video in Plattsburgh and Leeds, England. Nathaniel Miller is Chief Editor and Director of Photography. Liss also recruited lifelong friends Brian Jones and Bryan Thomas for the production. Jones, a former photographer for Albany's The Source newspaper, is executive producer of Apartment D. Thomas, a singer-songwriter based in the Albany area, wrote several original songs for the drama. Liss, Jones and Thomas first met twenty years ago on the playground at Rosendale Elementary School in Niskayuna. "We were always involved in writing and creating together, even back in first and second grade," says Liss. "Never content to be just fans of things like Hardy Boys novels or The Six Million Dollar Man TV show, we would work together to write our own little adventure stories. And we're still doing it today." Liss still isn't content: he's currently rewriting and revising several of his screenplays, and will pursue production opportunities overseas in a return trip to England in December.
