DAY THREE: September 6, 2004
1:30 p.m. Not a lot of time to post.
On a day like today, you can either blog the video shoot, or you can actually do the video shoot.
There are fewer shots today than yesterday, actually, but they're much more elaborate, coordinated with the extras in the crowd. The really intricate stuff starts after lunch. There's the dolly shot through the crowd, for one. And then there's the no-edit trick shot at the end of the song, where I blink only to find the crowd has disappeared, and the room magically returns to the handful of indifferent barflys that were in the place when I first walked in.
That's the shot I'm really scared of. I think we're all a little bit scared of it.
3:30 p.m. More adventures in makeup and race.
GINA (applying powder to Bryan's face): I just want to give you a little touch-up to keep you from getting too shiny.
BRYAN: My mother always said she hated to see a shiny negro. [BEAT] But she didn't exactly use the word "negro."
4:39 p.m. I shall be released.
MATT F: This is a release form that grants us permission to use your image in the video.
CINDY: So if I have something stuck in my teeth, I can't sue you?
